One of the most relaxing ways to spend a day in San Diego is shopping in Del Mar and throughout the greater San Diego area. Not only can you purchase mementos of your trip to San Diego, you also have the opportunity to find all of the great stores in the region. If you are moving to San Diego, this can be a major advantage, as you will know all of the hot shopping spots before you actually purchase your home.

Here at Pacific Shore Platinum, we strive to provide you with all of the information you need, not only concerning homes in the greater San Diego area, but also on all of the various activities in the area, places to do some San Diego shopping, spas, hotels, and other areas of interest. We want you to be familiar with the community you will be moving to before you sign that paper and purchase or lease a new luxury property/home.

Del Mar shopping is a unique experience. Del Mar is a resort, beach town with some of the sunniest weather and best shopping experiences in the state of California. Depending on what you want to buy, you should be able to find it in Del Mar. If Del Mar does not have what you are looking for, and they should, there is always San Diego shopping outlets as well as shopping opportunities in all of the surrounding areas.

The following are a few of the top places to go shopping in Del Mar and San Diego. We recommend all of the places listed though you can find several, smaller shops if you explore the area on your own, with some great shopping finds as well.

Del Mar Plaza www.delmarplaza.com

Del Mar Plaza is the premiere Del Mar shopping plaza. Not only are there over 30 different stores and boutiques in the plaza, but there are also multiple award-winning restaurants. The views from the plaza are stunning, and many come to shop here just to catch a glimpse of the beach, a few hundred feet away.

The unique setting of the Del Mar plaza makes this Del Mar shopping center a favorite for both locals and visitors to the San Diego area. When you visit Del Mar Plaza, you will have a chance to shop at stores that are known for setting trends. These stores include Banana Republic, Georgiou, Loghman Jewelers, Peaches en Regalia, and Sunglass Hut. Additionally, there are many great restaurants in the Del Mar Plaza, some of them have won awards. These restaurants include an eclectic mix of food styles. You can dine at any of the following restaurants: Enoteca del Fornaio, Del Mar Rendezvous, Java Kai, Epazote Oceanview Steakhouse and Bar, and Pacifica Del Mar.

The Del Mar Plaza offers other services besides shopping in Del Mar. The Plaza includes the Haim Ltd. Salon, Del Mar Nails and Spa (where visitors can truly relax), a cleaning service (Arya Cleaners), and a market with a deli, wine, and fresh produce.

Seaport Village www.seaportvillage.com

The ultimate San Diego shopping experience awaits you at Seaport Village. Seaport Village is the place to go for waterfront shopping and dining. At Seaport Village, you can shop at one of the 54 unique shops and galleries. Get a breath of the fresh San Diego air as you sit at one of the 13 sidewalk eateries. You can also dine at one of the four Seaport Village restaurants.

Seaport Village has three different, beautifully designed plazas. Each plaza has a specific theme. You will enjoy shopping in San Diego at one of the three plazas, which are designed in the styles of Old Monterey, Victorian San Francisco, and traditional Mexico. Your shopping experience will be so much more fulfilling as you explore the winding paths and original shops.

Some of the most popular places to shop at Seaport Village include Big Dogs, Poquitos, and the Haberdaschery. You can take a break from all the San Diego shopping you will be doing and eat at one of the restaurants in Seaport Village including the Edgewater Grill, Harbor House, the Seaport Village Deli, and Seaport Coffee and Fudge. There are other benefits to shopping at Seaport Village. These include an 1895 restored Looff Carousel, live entertainment, and the adjacent Embarcadero Park.

These are just a few of the amazing places you can go shopping in Del Mar and San Diego. Other places we recommend are UTC, Fashion Valley, and Horton Plaza. While not all of the stores in these plazas and shopping centers will meet your San Diego shopping needs, they all have something to offer that will make you want to come back for more the next time you visit or when you finally move into the area.

Flower Hill Mall, Del Mar

Conveniently located just east of the Interstate 5 off Via de la Valle, Flower Hill Mall is a one-stop entertainment hangout for all ages.

Smaller than a standard shopping mall, Flower Hill doesn't miss a beat. With movie theaters and anchor restaurants including Chevy's, Tony Roma's, local pizza and pasta favorite Pappachino's, and Milton's delicatessen -- one of my favorites for menu, portions and atmosphere; kids can draw right on the butcher paper-covered tables -- you just can't lose for a casual day or evening out.

Shoppers are in for an upscale treat with The Silver Skillet -- three floors of luxury kitchen essentials, tableware and home decorations. You can relax upstairs at Pannikin coffeehouse and the adjoining bookstore, The Book Works. Or pop into Charlie's Place or Style for a chic outfit just right for a day at the races.

Dig and its sister-store Bathe arm you for a day in the garden and an evening in the tub. To go with your evening repose, stop in at The Wine Connection for a fine suggestion before picking up a hunk or two specialty cheeses at The Aniata Cheese Co.

The kids aren't left out. Shoppers will find several toy stores and shops for children's clothing and furniture. And for the bride and groom or consummate party fan, visit Truso, where you'll find all the resources to plan any special event, including invitations, photography and the Event Gallery where vender information is consolidated by category for the client's convenience. Now that's Del Mar.
